To equip Coloradans with the skills they need to obtain jobs in the growing renewable energy sector, Governor Jared Polis signed HB21-1149 into law on June 16, 2021.

On Tuesday, Nov. 16, the BEL Commission hosted the 2021 Colorado Apprenticeship Awards. More than 150 people attended this virtual event honoring the individuals and organizations dedicated to the advancement of apprenticeships in Colorado.

In celebration of Colorado Apprenticeship Month this November, the Business Experiential Learning (BEL) Commission is hosting the 2021 Colorado Apprenticeship Awards. Please be our guest on November 16 and join the event virtually from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

On October 1, 2021, Lisanne McNew assumed her role as chair of the Colorado Workforce Development Council (CWDC), a Governor-appointed, public-private partnership with the purpose to advise, oversee, and integrate the work of the Colorado talent development network to meet the needs of employers and workers.

The CWDC has welcomed three new employees to the team since this summer. We are excited to be joined by Germaine Kitterman, Daisy Gutierrez, and Kwizi Ndogole, and to expand our team with additional new positions in the coming months. 

The CWDC is pleased to announce the grantees for the HB21-1264 Upskilling, Reskilling, and Next-skilling Workers Grant (RUN grant). HB21-1264 was signed by Governor Polis in June to create stimulus investments to facilitate training for unemployed and underemployed workers in Colorado during times of substantial unemployment. 

The month of September marked a changing of the guard for the Council as we said farewell to several Council members who have completed their terms with us, and welcomed Lisanne McNew into the chairperson role. The Governor also appointed new members to the Council who began a three-year term on Oct. 1.
