June 20, 2023 - Improving job quality features can result in improved quality of life and satisfaction for workers and stronger and more competitive businesses. In recognition of these and other benefits, the CWDC has been supporting businesses through the no-cost Good Jobs Pilot to help employers, such as the Colorado West Land Trust, to measure and improve the quality of their jobs.

Colorado West Land Trust (CWLT) is a consolidation of the Mesa Land Trust and the Black Canyon Regional Land Trust. The two organizations have come together to better protect and conserve agricultural land along with its rural heritage, wildlife habitat, recreational areas, and scenic lands in western Colorado. CWLT entered the Good Jobs Pilot in the fall of 2022 with the hopes of improving their recruitment and retention. Additionally, CWLT wanted to assess their competitiveness against other nonprofits and for-profit businesses to be an organization of choice when it comes to employment.

Through the Good Jobs Pilot, CWLT is using data to assess and benchmark the quality of their jobs and make data-informed decisions to improve with the support of CWDC’s Employer Coach. By measuring and crafting strategies to improve job quality, CWLT has catalyzed positive business outcomes, such as improving talent attraction and employee retention, improving diversity, and enhancing the wellbeing of employees.

“Participating in the Good Jobs Pilot has provided me with insight and tools to ensure that Colorado West Land Trust brings quality jobs to our community,” said Allison Rehor, Finance & Operations Director of Colorado West Land Trust. “My coach has helped me work through knotty issues like cost-of-living increases, and broad subjects like career development, and each mindful HR decision is a step toward making CWLT the best employer we can be.”
