What is an LER? Colorado Exploring New Tools to Make Skills More Visible

Colorado is working to build a skills-based talent ecosystem that works for everyone — students, workers, job seekers and employers. This approach aims to better recognize and validate the skills and competencies of the modern “l/earner,” someone who is often learning and earning at the same time, and aims to make opportunity more accessible to all.

One of the tools helping bring this vision to life is the Learning and Employment Record, or LER. These digital records allow individuals to securely share verified skills gained through education, work and life experiences. The goal: share a more accurate picture of what l/earners know and can do to better match the skills that people have with the skills employers need for open positions.
