Oct. 15, 2020 - The CWDC is excited to welcome Susan Blansett to the team. Susan is shared with the Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium (CRWC) and will serve in a nine month position as the energy and industry consultant. In her role, Susan will be responsible for engaging the energy industry to inform energy career pathway development, work with local communities to support the launch of energy sector partnerships, and pursue other approaches to strengthening the sector. Susan joins the CWDC team with a long history in consulting and economic development.

We want to share some more information about Susan in her own words:

Hello, my name is Susan and I feel so fortunate to be joining CRWC and CWDC and returning to Colorado state government after many years in the private sector.

I’m one of five lucky kids born to Bob and Donna Blansett in Macomb, Illinois, where I somehow graduated from Western Illinois University. After my first economic development job with the Illinois rural electric cooperatives, I came to Colorado in 1988 to join Governor Romer’s Office of Economic Development (OED), and my husband and I settled in Golden (which looked a lot different than it does now).

At OED, I worked with rural and urban communities across the state and administered the Colorado FIRST training incentives. I spent time as an economic development practitioner at local and regional levels in Colorado and earned my MBA before turning to the “dark side” and consulting to economic development groups around the nation. Over the next many years, my partners and I were fortunate to work with some terrific clients, including the Denver Metro Chamber/EDC three times, and others large and small in a dozen or more states. And in that experience, I know I learned as much from them as they did from us.

I’m an active nature-lover (birding and hiking), fond of dogs and horses, good friends, music, good books. Lucky to be married to Mark and be “Nana” to our grandson. Thanks to everyone I’ve met thus far, for the warm reception and all the help that has come my way in my first two weeks with CRWC. I’ll do my best to pay it forward!

Welcome to the team, Susan!
