The Colorado Contractors Association (CCA) is bridging the gap between aspiration and opportunity through its hybrid in-person and online training program, designed to prepare individuals for careers in the construction industry. Recently, the CCA shared the inspiring story of a graduate from their Civil Construction Academy, highlighting how even small acts can ignite profound change.

One CCA participant, having successfully completed the training program, received a pair of Red Wing boots as part of the support provided by a grant. At first glance, a pair of boots might seem like a simple gift. But for this individual, they symbolized something far greater - an entry point into a new identity. Wearing those boots, they didn’t just look the part of a construction worker; they felt it. They became a tangible expression of their readiness to tackle the challenges of the industry.

This newfound confidence proved transformative. Equipped with their training and boots, they attended a hiring fair hosted by CCA, engaging with construction companies with a sense of self-assurance they hadn’t felt before. The boots were more than footwear; they were a catalyst, helping them see the construction industry as a world of opportunity rather than an intimidating unknown.

Today, this graduate has taken their first steps down a promising career path, empowered by the skills they gained, the support they received, and the confidence that started with one pair of boots. Their journey is a testament to how CCA’s program isn’t just building careers - it’s building lives.

CCA is a recipient of stimulus funding through the Coronavirus State Local Fiscal and Recovery Funds Act(opens in new window)(opens in new window)(opens in new window) (SLFRF). This grant is dedicated to expanding and enhancing workforce training programs across Colorado, equipping residents with the skills needed to secure in-demand jobs and strengthen the state's workforce capacity.
