Dec. 7, 2023 - The CWDC is proud to announce that we have received an inaugural grant from SkillsFWD, a new initiative seeking to build a more equitable skills-based hiring ecosystem leveraging learning and employment records (LERs). Over the coming months we will work alongside five other grantees to develop systems that enable more learners and workers to access quality education and career opportunities.
Our ColoradoFWD project will bring together cross-industry stakeholders, including employers, learners and workers, and education and training providers, to scale the adoption and accessibility of LERs in Colorado. LERs -- digital records of an individual’s formal and informal learning and employment -- can be used to represent diverse experiences on the job or inside the classroom. The ColoradoFWD project will leverage LERs to efficiently match skills and talent to opportunity, promote economic mobility, and empower learners and earners in order to address urgent direct care and behavioral healthcare talent shortages.
We are excited to build on the foundation of our prior work surrounding LERs with this grant to help catalyze a more diverse and equitable talent marketplace.
The six inaugural SkillsFWD grantees include Accelerate Montana, C-BEN for the Alabama Talent Triad, Workforce Development Board of Central Ohio, Colorado Workforce Development Council, Arizona State University, and the Connecticut Office of Workforce Strategy.
