White House Classroom to Career Summit

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden welcomed nearly 200 workforce and education leaders at the White House Classroom to Career Summit on Nov. 13, 2024. 

CWDC Managing Director Lee Wheeler-Berliner, along with Colorado Department of Higher Education Executive Director Dr. Angie Paccione, CareerWise CEO Noel Ginsberg, as well as Community College of Denver President Dr. Marielena DeSanctis, were in attendance to celebrate the administration’s $80 billion American Rescue Plan to strengthen and expand the American Workforce—from supporting high-quality free community college programs in high-demand fields, to expanding registered apprenticeships, to attracting and retaining a skilled, to diversifying workforce in critical industries.

“It was inspiring to see national recognition of the work we are all passionate about - equipping individuals with the tools they need to succeed and thrive in their careers,” said CWDC Managing Director Lee Wheeler-Berliner. 

The Summit highlighted record progress in expanding career pathways into well-paying jobs in infrastructure, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and more as part of the Administration’s Investing in America agenda creating millions of jobs that do not require a bachelor’s college degree.

The Summit convened Cabinet members, senior Administration officials, state and local elected officials, community college presidents, K-12 leaders, unions, workforce development leaders from the nine White House Workforce Hubs and other communities across the country, business leaders, representatives of philanthropic organizations, and students.
