“Danny” came to Denver Economic Development & Opportunity - Workforce Services (DEDO) from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation seeking assistance in reentering the IT field after enduring a challenging experience with a major social media company. Despite being recently promoted, he was abruptly terminated and replaced by a younger employee.
Following this setback, Danny turned to full-time work with a rideshare company during the pandemic to make ends meet. However, as winter approached, he sought help from DEDO and a career coach with the Career Coaching Collaborative for help transitioning back into IT and avoiding the challenges of driving in harsh winter conditions.
Together, Danny and his career coach created a brand-new resume emphasizing his transferable skills, tailored to the IT roles he aimed to secure. Through this process, Danny not only gained the ability to customize his resume for specific job applications, but also rebuilt his confidence in his skill set.
Now he is ready to pursue his dream job in the IT field. Reflecting on his journey, Danny shared these heartfelt words:
“I want to say thanks for the help you’ve provided so far with drafting a better resume. This attempt to rejoin the standard job market has taken time, but between DEDO and DVR, I feel that the guidance is providing something I haven’t had in much abundance while regarding my job prospects - hope.”
