Applications Now Open: 2022-2023 Winter/Spring Technical Assistance Modules

Oct. 12, 2022 - In an effort to streamline training and support offered through the CWDC to our talent development network partners, the CWDC is offering seven technical assistance (TA) modules this upcoming winter and spring. Interested applicants should visit the CWDC TA portal and create a login to apply (please use your work email address as your username and create a unique password).

The Winter/Spring 2022-23 Technical Assistance Modules include:

Rework America Alliance - Activator Training Series (Skills-based Hiring Module)

Application Deadline: No Application Required - Register by Oct. 24

What: Lead change in your community by helping employers adopt more equitable hiring practices. Join this free training program offered by Rework America Alliance/Markle Foundation to learn how to engage employers and to help them: expand their talent pools by adopting skills-based practices; write effective skills-based job postings; assess candidates based on the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to do a job; and retain and develop existing staff by focusing on skills.

Who: Any CWDC network partner who works with industry stakeholders looking to implement skills-based hiring methods to transform their workforce.  

Timeframe: Sessions on October 25, 27, and November 1, 2022 starting at 12 p.m.
 

Sector Partnerships Module: Convening, Supporting and Sustaining National Next Gen Sector Partnerships

Application Deadline: Nov. 10, 2022 - Apply

What: Sector partnerships are industry-led, community-supported partnerships that strengthen regional economies and connect people to quality jobs. Join the Institute for Networked Communities (INC), the national organization behind the Next Gen Sector Partnership model, for this virtual training series aimed at equipping your regional team to effectively convene and support industry-driven, Next Generation Sector Partnerships.

Who: Regional teams who are currently engaged in or planning to engage in sector partnerships. Teams may include staff from the local workforce area, community college, economic development, employers or community organizations. 

Timeframe: November - December, 2022
 

Integrating Job Quality and Equity Into Business Services

Application Deadline: No Application Required - Registration Details to Come

What: Job quality and equity are critical components of a thriving and robust state and local talent development ecosystem. Join this training to explore approaches to integrate job quality and equity into your core business services approaches. The six virtual sessions will ground business services staff in approaches to accelerate local priorities informed by approaches that help to strengthen the availability of quality jobs within the local job market. 

Who: Local business services staff interested in integrating job quality and equity strategies into the employer services.

Timeframe: November 10, 2022 - January 5, 2023
 

My Colorado Journey Module: Implementing My Colorado Journey

Application Deadline: Dec. 20, 2022 - Apply

What: Learn how My Colorado Journey (MCJ), a free online state resource, makes it easy for educators and career counselors to walk alongside students and job seekers as they explore career, education, and training opportunities. This five week module will demonstrate avenues for people to align personal aspirations with education and career pathways, explore Colorado’s top jobs, and tap into personal and financial support services. Focused content will be provided for those who work with students and for those who work with adults who are unemployed or seeking to reskill, upskill, or nextskill.

Who: Any professional providing career advising/counseling/guidance to students, job seekers, or community members who are interested in learning best practices, tools, resources, and guidance around the successful implementation of My Colorado Journey in their school or workforce organization are encouraged to apply.

Timeframe: Sessions on January 5, January 12, January 19, February 2, February 16, and February 23, 2023 from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
 

Using Human Centered Design to Diversify Recruitment Strategies

Application Deadline: Dec. 29, 2022 - Apply

What: Employers across Colorado have acknowledged the impact diverse teams have on the competitiveness and performance of their organizations. Despite the desire to diversify their hires, many employers are unaware of how to recruit more diverse candidates and raise awareness about available opportunities. This seven week, team based module will use human-centered design approaches to co-create processes and new approaches to expand the pool of qualified candidates to fill available positions. The module is designed to support strategic relationship building across communities and to build greater awareness and empathy for the many populations of talented individuals seeking career opportunities in Colorado. 

Who: Teams of 4-5 people from medium to large size businesses, industry associations, or sector partnerships interested in attracting a more diverse pool of workers to fill open positions within their industry.  

Timeframe: January - March, 2023
 

Sector Partnerships Module: Meaningful Employer Engagement - Business Champions - Engaging, Inspiring, and Connecting through Conveners

Application Deadline: Feb. 14, 2023 - Apply

What: Using the successes and best practices of conveners, industry, and sector leaders, participants will use case studies as a basis for exploring new ways of engaging new employer partners as well as best practices and ideation around retention strategies.

Who: Any sector/industry partners in the CWDC sector partnership network that are currently looking to better support employer/business engagement within their sector partnership are eligible to apply for this module.

Timeframe: February 21 and 23, 2023
 

Sector Partnerships Module: Succession and Sustainability

Application Deadline: March 8, 2023 - Apply

What: Using the expertise of multiple successful conveners across the state and some out of state, this will be a panel driven training that is moderated, providing a balance of best practice sharing, breakout scenarios, and discussion.

Who: Any sector/industry partners in the CWDC sector partnership network that are currently looking to implement best practices around succession and sustainability within their sector partnership are eligible to apply for this module.

Timeframe: March 15-16, 2023
